PR OFFICER
This Officer will support the organisation with building a positive public image. Developing a simple public relations plan, maintaining stakeholder and media contact lists, and creating content for release into the media will be key steps for this Officer. They will develop, with the help of others, a clear understanding of the current activity and future plans for the organisation, and how this relates to media and PR interest. They will have, or be hoping to develop, excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide a consistent, engaging public-facing presence for the organisation. They will be supported by the Chair and Managing Director.
This function will be mostly ad-hoc once contacts are established, utilising their skills for particular stories or occasions.
MARKETING OFFICER
This Officer will be focused on campaign and content creation, to engage with new and existing players, teams, and stakeholders. This Officer will be able to use modern marketing tools and practices to grow the image of the organisation across a range of channels. They will support the development of branding and marketing campaigns promoting a range of activity. They will be creative, able to use creative tools, and have an eye for detail and consistency, working alongside the Managing Director and Social Media Officer in particular.
This function will be flexible, and will align to plans created with the Managing Director.
SOCIAL MEDIA OFFICER
This Officer will be a key link between LincolnBasketball and its community. This Officer will develop and run social media plans across our social channels, and will be tasked with growing the audience and reach of these pages. Using a consistent voice and brand, this Officer will increase engagement and interest in our activities via social media. They will also work with the Managing Director on picking up enquiries through these pages, so professional and engaging communication is key.
This Officer will create and share content on a weekly basis during the season, and will also work with others to create and share material related to specific events and/or updates.
EVENTS OFFICER
This Officer will work closely with the Managing Director and Finance & Administration Director to plan and deliver one-off tournaments, community events, and other, related activities. Being organised, adaptable, and a good communicator are all important attributes for this Officer. You will work alongside existing contacts in some familiar venues, and also make new connections in the future. This Officer will be up for a challenge and happy to create an atmosphere that brings our community together, while being detail orientated and ensuring everyone’s safety.
This role will be on an ad-hoc basis with plenty of notice in advance. Attendance at the events will be expected, and these may take place during evenings or weekends.
ADMINISTRATION OFFICER
This Officer will have a keen eye for detail, be organised, and be able to handle sensitive information as required. Whether ensuring our files are organised correctly, ensuring we update policies and procedures regularly, or supporting meetings, this Officer will be professional in approach and flexible. An administration background would be beneficial for this Officer, as we look to professionalise our organisation and management. This Officer will work closely with all Directors, particularly the Finance & Administration Director to ensure the organisation is running smoothly.
This role is flexible and will be ad hoc depending on need and meetings. It will be mostly remote, but will involve attendance at meetings in person on occasion.
SAFEGUARDING OFFICER
This Officer will play a key role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our vulnerable members, including junior players. A current and comprehensive understanding of safeguarding practices and related legislation is important in this role, as they will be the first line of support in instances of safeguarding issues being disclosed or suspected. This Officer will ensure that those interacting with junior players are appropriately qualified and prepared to do so, and address any concerns with the support of the Finance & Administration Director.
This role will initially comprise of ensuring all systems and requirements are in place as necessary, and then will operate on an ad hoc basis, as well as regular update meetings as required.
FUNDRAISING OFFICER
This Officer is an important contributor in the growth and development of the organisation. Ideally with a background in bid-writing or related fundraising, this Officer will lead (or support, as required) the organisation’s bid writing and tendering processes. Either an existing knowledge of, or willingness to research, funding opportunities will be important, as will excellent written communication and organisational skills to develop and plan activity for bids within current and planned resource. You will also be able to network and develop relationships with potential funders, either in person or online.
This role will be on an ad hoc basis, working closely with the Managing Director and Finance & Administration Director.
SPONSORSHIP OFFICER
This Officer is a direct link between our activity and the local business environment. Able to communicate value and vision to potential and existing sponsors, this Officer will play an important role in developing a reliable income stream for the organisation and retaining these relationships. Working with the Managing Director and Finance & Administration Director, you will use communication, negotiation, and creativity to develop and pitch sponsorship packages to businesses and other stakeholders in the local area. A sales background or an interest in these types of opportunities would be beneficial .
This role will be mostly ad hoc and flexible, allowing you to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
APPEALS OFFICER
This Officer will be creative and ambitious in their approach to appeals. Securing items and services from supportive donors and suppliers takes a strong understanding of value exchange, communication skills, and tenacity. Enabling access to equipment and services will play an important role in the capital infrastructure and development of the organisation, and this Officer will work with all Directors in their efforts to develop a wish-list to work towards. A background in appeals and/or corporate affairs will be helpful.
This role will be ad hoc and flexible, and a plan will be devised with the Directors’ support.
TECHNICAL OFFICER
This Officer will be passionate and knowledgeable about the game of basketball, and be keen to represent our community and the organisation equally in technical discussions. This Officer will work closely with the Technical Director to quality assure standards of coaching and officiating across all activities, and support the implementation development programmes, including projects bringing new people into those roles. With a keen eye for detail, high standards, and excellent communication skills, this role is important in elevating the quality of everything we do on the court.
This role will contribute to a range of activities, and therefore will vary in terms of time expectations.
HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER
This Officer will support the organisation in being fully compliant with all Health & Safety-related legislation and guidance. A legal eagle in H&S, this role requires an eye for detail, exacting standards, and the communication skills to support any recommendations becoming common practice. Working with our Technical and Finance & Administration Directors, this Officer will prepare key documents and practical guidance which will enable us to ensure that our activities and community are safeguarded from harm, or risks of harm.
This role will involve an initial set-up process, and then continue on an ad hoc basis.
LEAGUE TEAM LIAISON OFFICER
This Officer will support the most important members of our league activity, the teams. Using excellent communication skills, this role will involve first-line communication with the organisation’s teams on a range of topics. This Officer will have a clear understanding of the league’s structure and regulations, and have strong customer service skills. More complex questions will be referred to the relevant Director(s). A passion for the community created by the league is important, as is being a positive and solution-orientated character.
This role will be flexible, but is likely to deal with queries on at least a weekly basis during the basketball season.
ACADEMY OFFICER
This Officer is responsible for the medium to long term planning and development of a basketball academy. Initially focused on the current junior programme, this Officer will use their planning skills and knowledge of sport and education to begin work on a range of activities supporting the organisation’s aims to develop schools-based coaching and tournaments. Using their creativity and strategic thinking, they will work with all Directors to support all aspects of this ambitious, ongoing development. This is an exciting role for someone interested in building a lasting, ongoing legacy in the sport.
This role is flexible and ad hoc, but will also benefit from being involved in some weekend activity.
