Week Nine would bring us a mixed evening of events. With Game 1 being a slow and ultimately decisive blow as ULT would demolish Newark by 24 points!

The opening quarter would demonstrate a clear struggle for Newark, with the team only making a total of 2 points. It seemed as though the rim was not in favour of the team, and would see them have to fight hard on defence. However, for ULT, a strong and aggressive attack in the paint would be the only thing keeping them ahead. Both teams would have to improve on shooting for a development in scoring to occur.

Miscommunication would see ULT concede the ball, allowing Newark to climb back slightly. This would be quickly quelled, as both Brazauska - no.25, and Lukas - no.2 would hit clean 3 point shots. Unfortunately, an avoidable and highly heated argument between players of both teams would lead to both being ejected. This would ironically be the biggest dagger to the falling Newark BC, as they would find themselves unable to make any substitutes with no remaining players on the bench. A three from Litvinas - no.27 would add to Newark’s score but would not be enough to draw the gap in.

The second half would continue to provide woes for Newark, as Maratas - no.3 would get a steal and hit a three for ULT. A responsive three from Mockus - no.15 would contribute to the losing team's dwindling score. However, the cohesion and ability to keep players energised, would allow ULT to take a significant lead. A contested layup from Lukas and utilisation of old-school ball movement would see the 5 man Newark team fall behind and although Taurinskas - no.13 would make a three point shot, Newark would ultimately lose by 24 points.

Although it may have been a blow-out game for Newark BC, the players managed to complete all 40 minutes on their own and that should be highly commended. However, ULT’s strong offence and ability to keep the players fresh and ready would be the deciding factor.

LincolnBasketball would like to remind all players, fans, and spectators that we operate a zero-tolerance policy for abusive behaviour, both on and off the court. Any incidents of misconduct will be addressed with the utmost seriousness to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all.

Enjoying the holiday break, both teams will be able to rest and recuperate, with ULT playing in the first week of the new year against the 6th place Hawks. Can they continue their winning streak?
